Hobby Welding
Description
Have you ever thought about learning the basics of welding or considered it as a career? Do you have a welder at home and want to boost your knowledge and ability to use it? Or, has it been some time since you’ve used your skills and want to brush-up? This four-night, non-credit course may be the welding class for you. No prior skills or knowledge is necessary.
This class will introduce you to:
- Shop and welding safety
- Components of welding and cutting
- SMAW/Shielded Metal Arc "Stick Welding"
- GMAW/Gas Metal Arc "Mig Welding"
- Proper procedure for use and setup for each welding style
- Welding positions
- Torch cutting and plasma cutting
After covering safety material, the majority of class time will be spent hands-on in the shop.Participants must wear a long sleeve denim or cotton shirt and leather work boots. Welding hoods, gloves, and safety glasses will be available to borrow during the course. Participants must be at least 16 years of age.
COURSE DATES/TIMES: December 10, 12, 17 and 19 from 6pm to 9pm each evening.
