Description
We are excited to welcome you to NCMC during our O.A.R. (Orientation, Advising, Registration) sessions! Please see below for the major-focused dates you should choose when registering.
As a new student at NCMC, you are bound to have questions. O.A.R. (Orientation, Advising, and Registration) is an opportunity for you to learn how to navigate campus and all of our student resources. By the time you leave O.A.R., you’ll be on your way to success at NCMC!
During O.A.R., you will learn about:
- Your degree and major
- Financial aid and scholarships
- Campus housing and dining plans
- Tutoring services
- Clubs and organizations
- Navigating your student portal
- And many other campus resources!
Every new NCMC is required to attend an O.A.R. session. An optional campus tour will begin at 11:00am in Alexander Hall. Check-in at 11:30am in Cross Hall for your O.A.R. session. View the Main Campus map for directions. We are excited to have you as part of our Pirate crew!
Please choose a date that is focused on your major! If you cannot make it on a date that will be covering your major, please register for another date. You will receive the same information but the faculty advisor for your major may not be present. If you plan to transfer to a 4-year college after NCMC, you can register for any date listed, no matter your area of interest!

Students will need to bring a photo ID to check-in to the OAR session. You will also need to know the last four digits of your social security number.
Lunch is not provided. We will provide a light snack and bottled water during a break in the presentation. For those attending OAR on the Main Campus, there is a coffee shop in Cross Hall that has pizza, sandwiches, snacks, and beverages available for purchase. Their summer hours are 7:30am-1:30pm.
Yes, there is some additional information that you will need as a first-time freshman at NCMC that is provided during orientation. OAR is designed to familiarize you with the NCMC campus, faculty, and staff. It also gives you insight into the resources available to help you in and out of the classroom.
Yes, parents or family members are welcome, but will attend a separate guest presentation during the session. Space is limited, so we ask that students on the Main Campus bring a maximum of two guests and students attending OAR at the Savannah campus bring a maximum of one guest.
Our Academic Advisors facilitate the OAR session and are available to answer questions and help with schedule changes at the end of each session. Not all faculty/staff advisors are available to attend all sessions due to scheduling conflicts. You will be advised during check-in if your faculty/staff advisor will be available at the end of the session. If you choose a date based on your major, your faculty advisor will be present to meet with you!
